Hello,

Sara Andrich is my name and creating Art is my life.

Born in the Belluno Dolomites, northern Italy into a long line of sculptors, poets and composers dating as far back as 1600, artistic expression has always been my world. I am a graduate of the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, majoring in sculpture and have the honour of a series of awards – both local and international – to my name.

My Art is an expression of the vicissitudes of everyday life: a feminine expression of life’s experiences, beautiful and at the same time painful and sad. It serves as an answer to internal questions, explored through the constant tension between aesthetic beauty and the study of colour, lines and shapes.

My sculptures reflect a love for challenging a range of materials: being able to transform them to the point where their very essence is unrecognisable. Why? Because these materials are at the service of creating sculpture.

I prefer the simplicity of wood. Simple with its primordial idea of craftsmanship, yet multi-layered as it offers infinite creative possibilities. The sculpturing of wood represents a constant quest for releasing the vital energy that lies within this marvellous material. From here on, it never ceases to be a beautiful journey of transforming the wood to the point of diverting attention from the raw material to the multiple themes of our existence. It can also be said that my wooden sculptures are personal meditations on ancient and contemporary art, through to decorative and applied arts attested by the use of different materials – ceramic, plaster, wood, metal, and polyurethane. The incorporation of these different materials is a perfect game of skilful balances, where one element never prevails over the others or detaches from them, thus making the outcome – my creations – harmonious.
